Terlingua Ranch in Texas Brewster County Terlingua Ranch is located in Southwestern Texas and the Southern portion of Brewster County, at the base of the Christmas Mountains and in the heart of Big Bend Country. It is 275 miles east of El Paso and 60 miles south of Alpine and off of State Route 118. The Ranch is 20 miles from the Texas-Mexico Border and the Rio Grande. The Ranch includes 1,100 miles of well maintained roads and covers over 204,000 Acres of some of the most unique landscapes in Texas. It is literally a 204,000 acre recreational subdivision with Tract sizes ranging from 5 acres up to 160 acres. Big Bend National Park is on the east side and the Big Bend Ranch Natural Area on the west. Other adjoining lands are large private cattle ranches. Terlingua Ranch sales began in 1970 by Terramar Corporation, the original developer. Sales today continue from property owners and local area brokers. There are currently about 5,000 owners of private tracts of land at Terlingua Ranch. Most purchases have been for investment or recreational purposes such as camping, retirement and vacation homesites. There are about 500 full time residents. UTILITIES AVAILABLE: Electricity and telephone is available mostly along the 16 mile main ranch road, which leads from Highway 118 to the Lodge and in various pockets throughout the ranch. Several companies provide propane service. All water is by well. Water has been located in a range of 50 to 1,000 feet, with 200-350 feet being the average depth. One company sells water which can be stored in tanks or you can purchase water at the Lodge for two cents per gallon. Power is usually by solar or wind. Sewer is by septic system. LAND RESTRICTIONS: There are none, nor are there any building restrictions. It is your property to do with as you like. There are several nice retirement homes, cabins and mobile homes, which are mostly along the main ranch road.
